Call for Symposia


Submission Deadline is August 07, 2019

Proposal Topics

We are interested in receiving proposals in the following areas:

  • Mitochondrial Genetics Innovation

  • Mitochondrial Research in innovation in health and disease

  • Novel methodologies 

  • Drug discovery innovation

  • Clinical Care and Innovation

  • Policy development

  • Ethics in Mitochondrial Medicine

  • Big data analysis 

General Requirements for Submissions

  • It is the responsibility of the chair/moderator to keep the schedule approved by the Program Committee.

  • Presentations are solely education based. The use of any advertising, trade names, or product-group message association is prohibited.

  • All presenters' and co-authors' disclosures must appear on the first slide of the presentation. Slides will be reviewed in the speaker ready room to ensure compliance.

  • Once a session is accepted, speaker changes are NOT allowed unless approved by the Program Committee Chair.

  • Speakers are limited to no more than two (2) speaking roles in the Conference (Keynote lecture, Parallel Symposia and Brainstorming Sessions).

  • Commercial logos (e.g. Company, Institution, University, etc.) are not permitted to appear on meeting materials, including presentation slides.

  • Speakers who have their session accepted will be waived of registration fee. Regrettably, no financial assistance can be provided for travel or other expenses. Please note that a chair can also double as a speaker, but that chairs who are not speaking in the session are not eligible for the reduced registration fee

Submission must include the following:

  1. Speakers and Chair contact details

  2. Identify the number of co-speakers for your submission (Maximum of 3 speakers and 1 chair, which can also be a speaker)

  3. Title and Symposium Overview

    • Symposium Overviews should not exceed 250 words

We will consider gender balance when assessing submissions. We strongly encourage women to submit proposals and urge all colleagues to consider gender diversity when assembling submissions for MITO2019


Early Career Members

In order to support those at an early stage of career development, submissions that include junior colleagues are especially encouraged.



Symposia fostering trans-disciplinary and novel approaches especially from outside the traditional mold will be favored. Similarly, presenters from outside the core discipline are encouraged.
